Haven’t been reviewing anything for the longest time but couldn’t resist doing one for my latest new toy.
Thou I got an iPad 2 sometime back but I find it kinda huge and heavy to lug around. Plus I find jailbreaking iOS is not as easy as rebooting the Android OS.
My main purpose of getting a reader is of course reading books. Kindle have more books varieties, easier to purchase (No US credit card, no problem. Just purchase an Amazon gift card!), can read 9GAG (god send!), instagram & Facebook.
Placed my order with Amazon on the 20th of June, supposedly receive it on the 29th of June but it’s a Saturday and office is close hence I only get to collect it on the 1st of July.
[1st impression]
Outlook: A little heavy and thick. But comfortable in hands.
Performance: Startup pretty fast. Touch screen as responsive as my iPhone 4. Screen bright and clear. Loading of webpages is fast but depending on wifi connection speed too.
I am actually pretty please that it have exceeded my expectation of a 199USD reader (comparing it to an iPad which cost almost 3-4 times more?)
Battery performance wise… I am not exactly a hardcore user. Thou it can surf the web too but I end up using my iphone more for FB and Instagram. Mainly for reading purpose, I charge the kindle once a week only.
Like the iPad, Kindle can be root to download apps and books from external source. Refer to HERE & HERE to find instruction. Pretty easy and fast!
After rooting, you can easy download apps (GAMES!) via google play. I know Amazon market doesn’t allow user outside US to purchase apps without a US credit card. So rigid! 🙁
Overall, I am really happy with my purchase. And you know… sometimes iPad can be too mainstream already. Can see at least 1 person holding onto an iPad at every turn. 😛
And nowwwwwww that 1 book that caught my attention and only took me 3 days to finish reading…
I am sure Sophie Kinsella is a well known author for chick flick novel. Remember the movie, Confessions of a Shopaholic? It’s a remake of the novel with the same name. Awesome writer!
[Book Description]
I’ve lost it. 🙁 The only thing in the world I wasn’t supposed to lose. My engagement ring. It’s been in Magnus’s family for three generations. And now the very same day his parents are coming, I’ve lost it. The very same day! Do not hyperventilate, Poppy. Stay positive 🙂 !!
Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!
Well, perfect except that the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn’t agree. He wants his phone back and doesn’t appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.
What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other’s lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls, and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents . . . she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.
I am a sucker of comedy romance novel and this book is perfect. It’s such a page turner that I can’t stop looking foward reading the next paragraph. This novel have really unexpected twist of events too unlike books that you can prolly predict the ending after finish reading the 1st half of the book.
Thou the ending was great but I felt so sad that I am done with the book. It set sucha high expectation in me that I have problems in looking for another good read now. -_-
Can’t wait to start on my next novel and perhaps a short review when I am done! 🙂
